July: Beauty Favourites

So it's that time of the month again, where I choose my favourite products from the past four weeks so that you guys can see some of my current obsessions! Even after only four months of blogging, I always look forward to these posts because I can just throw myself into praising each and every one! So, here are the products I have been L.O.V.I.N.G throughout July...

Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in 'Lychee'
I am LOVING Barry M Gelly nail polishes at the moment. The varnish is super glossy, stays on ages and true to say, really does give a gel-like finish on the nails. Their colour selection is also awesome and  I have particularly been loving 'Lychee' - a really pretty nude and also 'Papaya', a gorgeous coral. At only £3.99, Barry M is my 'of the moment' nail brand. As a little footnote, Essie is FINALLY jumping on the bandwagon too and launching their own gel nail polish in October! I can't wait for the colour range release...

OOTD: The Burgundy Playsuit

The boiler suit trend is really hotting up this season and I'm still hunting around for one to squeeze into my wardrobe! Last week I got half-way there after picking up this gorgeous playsuit in River Island's New Collection. The shirt collar and military-style pockets really give it the 'boiler' buzz, minus the legs...

One of the things I love most about this playsuit, is that it's just so easy to wear. It's super comfy and the material, despite its 'heavy denim' look, is really lightweight. The elasticated waistband also creates a flattering shape, without it being too fitted and the whole feel of the piece is really casual - I went for the smallest size and it is still loose, giving an informal, almost grungy look. As well as this, I just loved the colour. Being a brown-eyed gal, burgundy always screams out to me on a shop floor which is probably half the reason I fell in love with it...

Summer Nails: Brights

I haven't done a nail post for a while now and I think this stunning weather we have been having has really inspired me to venture more Summer brights on my nails and tootsie rolls. So I thought I would touch on all the colours of the rainbow and show you guys some of garish and crazy polishes I've been loving recently.

This post will be mainly picture heavy as I've picked these out primarily for their shade. But I'll also tell you a little more about the quality of the varnish itself. Summer is the time to really experiment with a pop of colour and I have really enjoyed my Sunday evenings recently, sifting through my nail varnish collection and choosing one of these guys to paint with! How cute do they all look lined up in the sun...

OOTD: Summer Coral

I had some absolutely amazing feedback on my recent Holiday Style Diary, so I've decided to show you a few more pieces in my Summer Wardrobe! This is one of my favourite looks at the moment - a loose midi dress paired with very simple heels, for an easy but sophisticated outfit to wear in the sun...

I am seriously having to ration how often I wear this gorgeous cami dress from Miss Selfridge. I think the colour is just absolutely beautiful and looks really stunning with a tan! The silk-like material catches the light beautifully and gives a texture that effectively contrasts with the delicate lace inserts. This makes it the ultimate 'girly' sundress in my wardrobe at the moment and I just can't get enough of it. It is so chic and versatile, but also super comfy and easy to throw on when the weather is scorching! The drop back hem is really flattering and a great compromise if you're not  quite feeling in the maxi-mood...

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer: Review and Swatches

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekends. Today's post is another fabulous product from Rimmel London, which is already well known in the blogosphere of beauty. The past year has been a huge success story for Rimmel, with new goodies such as the Wake Me Up Foundation storming the highstreet. The Apocalips Lip Lacquer has done the just same and I'm actually a little bit obsessed with them at the moment!

These lip lacquers are a 'hybrid' if you like, between a lipstick and a gloss and are available in eight gorgeous colours At £5.99 these are a handbag essential, all year round...

Clarins Eau Dynamisante Review

Did you know that the average woman's beauty cabinet is worth around £1,964.30? According to the Telegraph however, only £327 of this stash is used on a regular basis. How mad is that! It is as a result of these over-spilling vanity cases and excessive numbers of hoarded items found amongst beauty lovers like ourselves, that there are now many brands dedicated to creating multi-purpose products, in order to downsize our daily routines. In my opinion, one of the most innovative is this: the 'Eau Dynamisante' from Clarins. With a trinity promise of 'Vitality', 'Freshness' and 'Firmness', this is the first fragrance and body treatment in one. Astounding.

I must admit, when I first read about this I did have a little snigger to myself as I thought the idea was a bit barmy. A perfume that firms, tones and moisturises - sorry? But actually, how inventive - a body treatment that smells gorgeous enough to double up as your daily fragrance! I had to give it a go and I've been so excited to talk about this because it really is so ingenuous...

Rimmel Stay Matte Transparent Pressed Powder

During the Summer months, most of us experience unwanted shine and higher sebum levels as a result of the warmer climate, which can lead to a more oily complexion. Unfortunately, my skin seems to have a complete wobble as soon as we enter British Summer Time and I go from being Normal/Dry in the Winter, to Combination and perhaps even edging on Oily. So, I always look for products with great staying power at this time of year, or those which are going to make my make up stay put as long as possible.

Last week, I decided I needed a relatively inexpensive powder I can keep in my handbag, to set my make up and reduce shine. This is how I got on using Rimmel's Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder...

Green Fingers

Today's post has another little colour theme running through it, which you can probably already guess is.. GREEN! I'm really enjoying doing these 'Colour Themed Favourites' posts and have been having some great feedback, so thank you all. And without further ado...

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
If you read my full review on the Liz Earle Essentials range, you will already know that is one of my holy grail products. This is the King of all cleaners, it is so gentle but removes grime and takes off any stubborn makeup, without you feeling like you're giving yourself wrinkles rubbing at your face! The Hot Muslin Cloth that comes with it adds a feeling of luxury to the cleansing step and sweeps away any dead skin cells that might lead to pimples. With no nasties and a completely natural formula, this is going to give you a clearer and more radiant complexion. You can read a full review with detailed benefits, on what is one of my favourite skincare brands, here...

L'OCCITANE Immortelle Precious Cream

Today I'm going to be reviewing just one of the gorgeous skincare formulas that L'OCCITANE has to offer. The Immortelle range has been so popular ever since its launch and now includes some of the brand best selling product, including their 'Precious Cream'. Awarded a 'Five Star Product' by Style and  named a 'must have moisturiser', this has been a review I have been so excited to do...

Firstly, how beautiful is this?! All of L'OCCITANE's packaging is realy different to anything else out there on the market and almost has a welcoming, vintage feel. I think the blue glass pot looks beautiful on my dressing table! Anyway, it is true that the Immortelle skincare range endeavours to correct deep wrinkles and improve the overall firmness of the skin. Luckily, wrinkles are (at the moment) way down on my list of priorities, however I'll happily use anti-aging formulas in the hope of prevention and I also hoped that the intensive moisturising benefits of the Precious Cream would work wonders on areas of dryness...

Obviously Orange

Time for the third post within my 'Colour Themed Favourites' series and today it's all about orange. Hopefully this will brighten up Monday morning for some of us! All of these products are go-to guys which I use on more or less a daily basis and I can't really imagine my beauty draws without them!

Miss Dior Eau Du Parfum
To begin with my ultimate favourite orange product, which has pride of place on my dressing table, is the Miss Dior Eau Du Parfum by Dior. This is my favourite perfume ever and I love wearing it all year round. Dior actually discontinued Miss Dior Cherie last year so I was umm-ing and aaah-ing over whether to repurchase it, but I actually think the notes of this are even more charming. This scent brings back so many wonderful memories for me. Find it online, here...

By Terry 'Terrybly' Mascara Review

I've been waiting to purchase this revolutionary mascara for SO long and finally succumbed last week when my Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme finished up. By Terry is a French brand which is only available to buy in Space NK stores over here in the UK. Terry De Gunzburg herself, is the wonder woman responsible for creating the YSL Touche Éclat that we all know and love, and who then went on to found By Terry and a host of gorgeous products. The 'Terrybly' Mascara was big in the blogging world a couple of years ago now, however having only ever read good things, it has always been one that I've wanted to try...

At an eye-watering £31, this is very much a high-end product, with which you expect high-end results. The 'Terrybly' formula was said to mark a new generation of growth boosting mascaras, with it's top selling point being the intense growth serum that it features. The Lumicoat Care Technology, is said to make lashes stronger, longer, and give an overall silkier finish by nurturing each individual lash from base to tip...

Golden Oldies

This is the second post within my 'Colour Themed Favourites' series and this time I'm moving from Purple to Gold! I find that any product which is glamourous and golden is a favourite on my dressing table and I've really enjoyed doing a quick review of these beauties. So without further ado...

Batiste Dry Shampoo Light & Blonde
I recently reviewed this in a Boots Haul so I won't say too much, other than if you don't own a can of Batiste, then let me introduce you to your staple dry shampoo. This is literally amazing, it refreshes tired looking hair, provides texture and volume and now there is NO excuse for horrible roots! The formula contains a 'hint of colour' which is the perfect touch up for unwanted regrowth. It doesn't look patchy...

HELP: Pressed or Loose Powder - What's the Difference?!

I think at one stage or another, all of us have been a little bit bamboozled over the what form of powder to invest in. What actually is the difference between a pressed powder compact and a tub of the loose stuff? This is my first HELP posts, which I hope will shed some light to those umm-ing and aah-ing over  powder puffs..

Pressed Powder.
I've chosen to photograph two of my Clinique products for this, so you can get an idea of the difference between powder types within one band. Ok, so first of all I'm going to look at pressed powder, which is bought in the form of a compact. As you can see I've just hit pan on mine and it's looking a little bit messy!...

The Purple Giants

My next few posts are going to have a little bit of a colourful theme, showing you guys what I'm using at the moment and snippits of my beauty collection in bursts of colour. As its Summer and everything is beautiful - why not! So first off, I'm going for purple and I actually love every single one of these products, I could even call them my 'purple favourites'..

Baylis & Harding Body Lotion: Black Pepper and Ginseng
First up, is this super lovely body lotion from Baylis and Harding. You can't go wrong with one of these little beauties and I actually bought this to take away on holiday with me as it's the perfect size to use up in a week...

A Day Out At Buckingham Palace: #CoronationFestival

So today I've been up to Buckingham Palace for a one-off event this Summer - and what an event it was! No one throws a Summertime bash quite like Royalty.. My family and myself included, love to jump on the Royal bandwagon and actually even turn up to support the monarchy in most of the big events in town! We were all up on the Mall for the Royal Wedding and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, both of which will go down in my own little history book as days I will always remember. The Coronation Festival, which has been held this weekend in the extensively beautiful Palace Gardens, is also now included..

There was so much to do at the festival and it was so hot when we arrived, that we all got a little overwhelmed and quickly sat down with two buckets of champagne.. oops! But after some refreshing bubbles, we began to browse just a few of the amazing treats on offer. The Queen had invited all her Royal Warrant Holders (those who have supplied products or services to HM and her family for 5 years or more)...

Boots Haul 12.07.13

Hello everyone! Today is a special day for my little blog.. I've reached 10,000 page views! And to celebrate, I'm doing a drugstore haul for you all. This is my first haul post and I've been really excited to do one. Working up in London, it's very hard to resist popping into one of the many Boots stores so I'll jump straight into things and show you the products I've accumulated over the past couple of days...

Essie 'Limo-Scene'
I love Essie's nail varnish, it's my favourite high street brand and if I pass by the stand in Boots, I can't help having a nose at their beautiful colour range. They've just bought out a lovely new 'baby' duo in light of the Royal Prince or Princess, who we hope to see for the first time in the next few days! You can have a gander-oony at this on Essie's website - the light blue and pink colours are gorgeous...

Holiday Style Diary #3: Arabian Nights

Hello Everyone! My next #OOTD and Holiday Style Diary post features one of my faaaavourite brands at the moment - Virgos Lounge. I own a few pieces from some of their collections now and cannot wear them enough. They are so well made and I absolutely love the detailed embellishment which features on many of their beautiful garments. This is one of the outfits that I wore when we went over to Las Americas for the evening, to our fave bar - Papagayo!

'Emily' Embellished Silk Blouse // Virgos Lounge (Past Season)
White Lace Shorts // Zara available on EBay here
Flat Studded Sandal // Zara £29.99 £15.99 SALE
Gold Flower Drop Earings // Pilgrim £14.99

(I've just realised the excess of 'green and white' in this post - how very Celtic!!)

The 'Emily' blouse was the first piece I bought from Virgos Lounge - not just because it shares my name! - but also because it was in one of their 'flash sales'. This section on the website is one of my favourite places to shop and you are guaranteed to pick up a bargain! I loved the apple green colour, which I don't have a lot of in my wardrobe but when I first wore this on a night out at uni, lots of people asked me where I had got it from. The sheen of the beautiful silk material is really enhanced by gorgeous golden sequins, sewn onto the neckline and sleeves, which makes the the top appear really bright and luxurious. J'adore! I have just spent almost an hour searching, in vain, for somewhere to purchase this online. However, Virgos Lounge pieces are forever a popular buy on EBay, so I'm sure if you keep an eye out, you'll be able to pick one of these up.

I think these white, lace shorts from Zara go really well with the bold, block colour of the blouse. I love combining delicate materials against something more bold and 'stand out' - ^ Exhibit A! The sandals I wore are also form Zara and my token towards this Summer's Jelly trend! The strap actually fastens just beneath the ankle, which I think is really flattering for a gladiator and actually gives you a super 'long-leg' effect - much needed in my case! Also, I love that the gold stud detail endorses the other gold nuances within the look. You can read all about this trend in one of my previous posts, here: Summer Shoe Trend: The Clear Midriff

Finally, I accessorised the outfit with gold jewellery, to compliment the same hue within the sequin embellishment on the blouse. This Rose Gold Watch from Michael Kors has been really popular in the fashion world and I absolutely adore it - adds some sparkle to any look! I am also really into pretty drop earrings at the moment and particularly these beauties from Pilgrim, which are yours for £14.99.

So there you have it, Holiday Style Diary look #3!
Have any of you checked out the current collection at Virgos Lounge?

Holiday Style Diary #2: Turn On The Brights!

The Neon trend has stormed the fashion world over recent seasons. Even those who may prefer an outfit that it somewhat more understated, can join in with a fab pop of colour in the form of a necklace, or even just nail polish brights! Post go-karting (excuse my helmet hair..!) I took some gorgeous pictures on the cliffs just a stones-throw away from our hotel, to showcase a casual neon holiday look. This outfit also features my gorgeous Summer babies - Limited Edition Bambi and Manson #shortshorts!

Neon Green V - Neck Blouse // Zara £22.95 £19.99 SALE
'Plush Pink' Nail Polish // Leighton Denny £11
White Lace Espadrilles // Red Herring (Past Season) Similar here

This Zara shirt served me well as a holiday buy. But then again, I'm not sure when Zara have ever let me down! As well as serving as the centrepiece of this look, the material is so lovely and light, and thin enough that I also used it as a cover up to sling on over my bikini if it got too hot - ideal! The basic style is simple, yet the neon green adds dimension to the outfit which screams 'fun'. However, wear with caution girls - this is not a shirt to have on, on one of those 'I want to blend in' days!

To take my neon palette a little further, I added my bright Pink Multi Chain Necklace from NEXT, which I talked about at the very beginning of my blog a couple of months ago. I wear this all the time and it makes adding a pop of colour to a basic outfit, very simple. NEXT have some absolutely gorgeous neon jewellery in at the moment I would really recommend having a good old browse - you can see a few of my favourites, here. To tie together this look, I threw on a coat of Leighton Denny's 'Plush Pink' varnish, which complements the stunning fuchia colour of the necklace. Usually, I will keep my nails free of varnish in the sun, to let the Vit D work it's magic! However, here I couldn't resist co-ordinating even more brights... Just for fun!

I cannot finish this post without saying a few words about my #BAMS. Neon is bright enough to put a smile on my face, but chatting about these shorts gives me a full on cheesy grin. Bambi and Manson are a girlfriend/boyfriend denim duo, who endeavour to make 'the world a hotter place, one girl at a time'. I certainly have the hots for them both, as well as their amazing designs, and was overjoyed a few months back when I finally got my hands on a pair of their Limited Edition Shorts - which sell like hot cakes! You can read much more about the denim duo in my detailed post on Bambi and Manson and their incredible work, by clicking here. As well as recently collaborating with the beautiful Millie Mackintosh, the pair have also teamed up with True Religion and are now on the shelves in Selfridges! You need some of these in your Summer wardrobe girls... there's a pair to suit everyone.

How have you been wearing neon this season?
